Description

XPS Tile Backerboard 

Rigid, waterproof extruded polystyrene foam panel core with a cement fibre outer layer. Functioning as a lightweight, durable tile substrate that provides excellent thermal insulation and mould resistance. Ideal for use in bathrooms, wet rooms, shower walls and projects which require a stable base.

XPS Tile Backerboard has a built in waterproof core creating a continuous waterproof barrier. The closed cell structure forms a tight matrix of closed cells that cannot absorb or pass water through the face of the board. The polystyrene core does not rot, swell or degrade when exposed to moisture, maintaining structural integrity over time.

Tile backerboard is a crucial substrate used under tiles to provide a flat, stable, and moisture-resistant surface. Because it doesn’t warp or degrade when exposed to water (unlike standard drywall or plywood), it is widely used in areas prone to moisture and heavy traffic.

Here are the most common applications:

1. Bathrooms and Showers

  • Shower Walls and Enclosures: It serves as the primary backing behind tiles in walk-in showers and tub surrounds, preventing moisture from seeping into the wall studs.
